We all know what it’s like to look in the mirror and see lines, wrinkles and grey hairs that weren’t there the day before but with just a few simple adjustments to your lifestyle you can grow old gracefully, just how nature intended.
– Sleep! Never underestimate the power of a good nights sleep. It’s not called beauty sleep for nothing, the body repairs and heals itself whilst you are resting and waking up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world is one of the best feelings in the world. Your skin will glow, your hair will shine and your digestive system will be in tip top condition if you aim to get around at least 8 hours sleep a night.
– Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Now this goes without saying but you truly are what you eat and a diet which largely consists of fatty, processed junk food is going to have a terrible effect on your health and general wellbeing. Eat organic where possible and indulge every once a while so you don’t feel like you’re missing out.
– Cut down on stress. Learn how to meditate or take up a hobby where you can fully let go and unwind whether it be in the gym, at a cookery class or simply getting a massage or pedicure. Studies have shown stress to have alarming negative side effects so take some time out for you.
– Get a daily dose of vitamin D. Don’t go a day without stepping outside and feeling the sun on your skin, not only will the fresh air help to clear your mind you will feel much better for getting outside and being active, even if it’s the last thing you want to do.
– Take up volunteering. It could be for a pet shelter or your local food bank, giving something back really does make you feel good and you’ll meet a lot of interesting people along the way you would never have usually crossed paths with.
